Hetty Feather By Jacqueline Wilson

Its 1876 and Hetty has just been dropped of by her mother at the foundling hospital, she is less than a month old. There is screaming babies, crying mothers and nurses trying to make them all be quiet around her. She is one of these crying babies but she can't see her mother. A week later she is picked up from her sack they call a bed and she is taken outside to the freezing cold at 1 o'clock. She is sent to a family until she is 5.

But as she gets older she wonders more about her real mother. But she starts to think it is suspicious when her older brother is taken away in the middle of the night. Then a week after her 5th birthday her and her brother Gideon are taken back to the foundling hospital.

When she gets there it all comes back to her and there are so many rules she has to follow. Also there is the worst thing she can't be with Gideon and there is the evil matron.

This book shows us how hard it was in the 18 hundreds and it is funny as Hetty doesn't follow any of the rules and she always makes fun of matron.
I would give this book 5 stars out of 5.

  1. I like your blog Alice as it is very detailed I have read this book before and couldn't have worded this better my self! I particularly like when you said that 'this book show us how hard is was like in the 1800's' as this is relating to our lives.
EBI:you add a picture of the author and tell us who your favourite character was! xx
